ADAB IN ACTION · WEEK 1 RECAP

The OBIS
standard of speech

Respectful words. Clear requests. Calm delivery.

THE CENTRAL IDEA

Our words carry the culture of our school.

Week 1 established a shared standard for everyday communication at OBIS. Professional speech is more than politeness: it is how leaders and colleagues make Islamic character visible in moments of correction, pressure and responsibility.

“Correct the issue. Protect the dignity.”
01

Respectful words

Address the issue while protecting the other person’s dignity.

02

Clear requests

Name what happened, explain what is needed and agree the next step.

03

Calm delivery

Be firm about the standard without personal judgement or a harsh tone.

A PRACTICAL PATTERN

Move from reaction to a clear next step.

  1. 1
    Describe

State what happened using observable facts.

  2. 2
    Clarify

Explain the expectation and why it matters.

  3. 3
    Agree

Confirm the action, owner and follow-up.

HOW THE SESSION WORKED

Learning through participation.

Participants responded through Google Meet chat, examined familiar school communication moments and practised turning tense or unclear language into calm, specific requests.
